What is an Iot core solution?
What is an IoT core solution?
An IoT core is a service to easily and securely connect IoT devices to the platform and route messages to cloud services. A streamlined core allows organisations to select the preferred IoT communication protocol and receive telemetry data from devices and allows only authenticated devices access to your cloud through secure connections with end-to-end encryption. Finally, an IoT core allows you to manage your IoT devices from the cloud and issue commands and configuration updates to devices.

Capture a Seamless Tech Transition
Capture a Seamless Tech Transition
The upcoming retirement of the Google Cloud Platform (GCP) IoT Core can have significant disruption to business operations. The KORE IoT Core Platform is the premier platform for migration and all the familiar capabilities of the Google IoT Core, including the same APIs and user experience, as well as the device option to connect to the same GCP messaging service. This will allow for the most minimal amount of disruption as organisations migrate.

FAQs
What is the Google Cloud Platform Migration?
Google is retiring its Cloud IoT Core service in 2023, which serves as an IoT core platform for organizations that currently use it for existing IoT deployments. Those organisations that are utilizing the Google Cloud IoT Core must find a new IoT core for their solutions, which categorises this as a technology migration.
What is an IoT Core Solution?
An IoT core connects IoT devices to cloud services and essentially acts as the communication line between the device and the cloud. Organisations can use the IoT cloud to collect data, as well as authenticate designated devices for data collection. This prevents unauthorised devices from accessing device data. An IoT core also allows devices to be managed and monitored.
What Existing IoT Core is Available for My Migration?
KORE offers its IoT Core platform, OmniCore, as the optimal choice for Google Cloud IoT Core migrations due to its similarity in design, robust features and ease of migration.
How is OmniCore Similar to Google Cloud IoT Core?
OmniCore is fully compatible with the Google Cloud Platform architecture and migrating can be managed by leveraging an existing Google account. OmniCore also offers many of the same features and functionalities of the Cloud IoT Core, as well as many new and enhanced features.
What Features of OmniCore are Enhanced?
Similar features to the Cloud IoT Core, but enhanced, include:
Device Provisioning: Similar to IoT Core, IoT devices can be easily activated. OmniCore also offers new device activation through zero-touch provision.
MQTT, HTTP Transports: Just as with IoT Core, OmniCore accepts the standard MQTT and HTTP protocols.
Secure Device Communication: OmniCore supports the same end-to-end data encryption and several new ways to authenticate devices (mTLS), but KORE also offers IoT SAFE SIM integration for device-level security.
Manage Devices: OmniCore has enhanced the IoT Core capabilities for managing IoT and field gateway devices by also allowing over-the-air commands and updates.
Device Monitoring: Cloud audit logs and usage data has always been available in the IoT Core and will also be available in OmniCore, but KORE has also added in-console device testing for real-time diagnostics.
Does KORE Offer any Other Benefits with its Core Platform?
KORE offers comprehensive operational support with 24/7 global services and a guaranteed long-term support for OmniCore users.
Will the Migration be Challenging?
KORE has made it simple to migrate to OmniCore with just five simple steps – just subscribe, configure, launch, update devices, and update the API URL and that’s it!
Do I Have to Manage the Migration Myself?
Definitely not. KORE has made it possible for organisations to manage the migration internally, but we offer our professional services to manage the migration for those who do not wish to do so.
