Women Powering IoT: How KORE is Accelerating Action

6 minute read

Driving Change, Powering Progress

International Women's Day 2025 is all about Accelerating Action – taking bold steps to break barriers, drive inclusivity, and create a more equitable future. In the world of IoT and technology, women are leading the charge, shaping innovation, and redefining what’s possible. At KORE, we celebrate the women in our industry who are pushing boundaries and making an impact every day.

Why Acceleration Matters

While progress has been made, women still only represent 25% of the tech industry, with even lower numbers in leadership and technical roles. To truly accelerate change, businesses must move beyond conversation and take meaningful action by fostering opportunities, supporting mentorship, and championing inclusion in the workplace.

KORE’s Commitment to Action

At KORE, we recognise that true progress requires continuous effort. We are committed to:

  • Empowering Women in Leadership – Supporting career growth and leadership opportunities for women in tech.
  • Mentorship & Development – Encouraging mentorship among our employees that uplifts and guides the next generation of women in IoT.
  • Driving Innovation – Creating a workplace where diverse perspectives lead to groundbreaking solutions in connectivity and IoT. Our "Office Hours" and "Learning Bytes" initiatives, led primarily by women, foster knowledge-sharing across KORE and help all employees stay at the forefront of industry advancements.

Voices of Women at KORE

We believe the best way to inspire action is through real stories. To capture the spirit of action and leadership, we asked each of our interviewees two key questions:

  1. What does #AccelerateAction mean to you?
  2. How are you making an impact in IoT?

Here are some of the inspiring responses from the incredible women at KORE:

Sutanuka Bhattacharya – Senior Director, PMO

  • On #AccelerateAction:
“#Accelerate Action to me means actively championing women’s wellness by fostering an inclusive, supportive, and sustainable environment for all genders. It is about ensuring that women have the physical, mental, and social well-being needed to thrive in every aspect of life. It is also about breaking barriers early, encouraging women early to pursue STEM careers, equipping them with opportunities to excel in high-paying roles. In the workplace, there remains a significant lack of diversity in leadership, particularly among women of different ethnic backgrounds in the Western world. Recognising and valuing their leadership potential is essential in paving a clear path toward their career goals.

By accelerating action, we create a future where women lead, innovate, and thrive fearlessly in every field and in every level.”

Nicki Brock – VP, Enterprise Applications

  • On Impact in IoT:
“I think I am making an impact every single day!  I am driving innovation & inclusion in the IoT industry – as a female leader – demonstrating how a female led team can thrive in IoT & proving that innovation accelerates when diverse voices are heard.  I also am always advocating for more women in IoT & in IoT leadership roles – now is the time to speak up, show up & resist.”

Amanda Craig – VP, Customer Support

  • On #AccelerateAction:
“#AccelerateAction means taking proactive steps to promote equity and inclusion by doing what I can to recognise, mentor and be an advocate for other women. This is about recognising the amasing women around us and ensuring that they are provided the opportunities they deserve.  It’s about recognising that there are not enough females in leadership positions and asking the hard questions about what can be done to improve this.  It’s also about recognising that leadership doesn’t always look the same way; leadership attributes can be quiet and understated; it’s not always about being the person who has the most to say.  Working toward accelerating action means we need to listen to those who do not speak up; how do we make it safe for them to be heard?”

Kristie Swanson – SVP, Connected Health Sales

  • On #AccelerateAction:
“For me, #AccelerateAction is about leading with heart, lifting others up, and making sure technology serves people in meaningful ways. This International Women’s Day, I’m celebrating the incredible women of KORE – the trailblasers, the innovators, and the everyday rock stars who are driving change, breaking barriers, and shaping the future of technology and healthcare.

I’ve spent the past two decades learning, listening, and sometimes even stumbling my way through the fast-changing world of IoT. But the most rewarding part? Paying it forward. Mentorship and uplifting others – especially women in tech – are at the heart of what I do. I’m committed to opening doors, sharing wisdom (and let’s be real, lessons learned the hard way), and creating opportunities for the next generation of women leaders. When women succeed, we all succeed.”

Kayleigh Thomas – Global Marketing Director

  • On Impact in IoT:
“This is the best part of what I do – getting to talk to customers and hear firsthand how IoT is transforming their businesses and solving real-world challenges.

Every day, I get to dive into conversations with companies that are using IoT to do incredible things – whether it’s enabling life-saving connected health devices, optimising fleet management for sustainability, or powering smart city infrastructure. The real magic happens when I get to share these stories, not just as examples of what’s possible, but as proof of how IoT is making a tangible difference.

It’s one thing to talk about technology; it’s another to see how it empowers businesses to be more efficient, resilient, and innovative. And being able to bring those stories to life? That’s the impact I love making in IoT.”

Join Us in Accelerating Action

As Kristie beautifully puts it, “This International Women’s Day, let’s lift each other up, create opportunities, and make sure every woman has a seat at the table (or better yet, her own table). When we support each other, we make space for bigger, bolder, and more meaningful innovation. And if we can share a few laughs along the way? Even better.”

This International Women’s Day, we invite you to take action – whether by mentoring, advocating for inclusivity, or amplifying the voices of women in tech. Progress isn’t a passive process; it’s something we build together, step by step, action by action.

Let’s accelerate change, together.
